In Memory of Mike Denham
Mike, you will be greatly missed by the Bradenton Runners Club
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we say goodbye to an outstanding member of our running family. His dedication to our Board, his energizing creativity in collaborations, and his competitive spirit were always balanced with a gentle sense of humor and a team-oriented focus.
Website improvements, platform developments making our scholarship applications digital, marketing strategies presented for club branding, images and logos, participation in group training runs and club-sponsored races are some examples of Mike’s range of participation and influence with his “can do” attitude. A recent tribute from a BRC Board member described Mike as the “ideas man on technology improvements.” Another member said “Mike was such a big help to us, and he really enjoyed being part of the club.”
Mike’s BRC Board profile page portrayed his wonderful sense of humor: “My favorite race is one I win. Consequently, I haven’t been to any of my favorite races recently.” Despite Mike’s valuable input and astute changes introduced in such a short time, he still described himself as “the baby on the Board.” Perhaps Mike’s greatest attribute was his inexhaustible desire to Pay It Forward. He made note in his profile about how thankful he was to have a running role model growing up, stating “Hopefully I can inspire a few people and pass on what he gave me to others.”
Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Mike’s family. We will keep them in our prayers. The Bradenton Runners Club hopes Mike’s loved ones take some measure of comfort in knowing that his ideas for improving our Club are being used. His ideas, through doing what he loved, will keep his memory alive.
Rest in peace, Mike,
Bradenton Runners Club Board of Directors

Thanks, Bradenton, for another great De Soto Grand Parade 5K!
Bradenton Runners Club would like to thank all the runners, volunteers and sponsors who joined us on Saturday, April 30th, for the new and improved De Soto Grand Parade 5K – the race to kick of the De Soto Heritage Festival Grand Parade. We hope you enjoyed the race and will come back next year! We are always working to improve our races and BRC has bigger and better plans for the 2017 De Soto Grand Parade 5K!
The 2017 race will include a full start-to-finish, chip-timed course but will extend further down Manatee Ave W. so you’ll be able to see even more of the Hernando de Soto Historical Society‘s Heritage Festival Grand Parade.
